Ballsbridge Living Tidy Towns Cleans Up at Awards Ceremony

Ballsbridge Living Tidy Towns launched in March of this year and has very quickly assembled a fantastic group of volunteers. The community have gathered with one goal in mind, and that is to make Ballsbridge an even better place to call home. From lending a helping hand with everything from morning road clean-ups to a Spring Clean Scavenge Hunt, there’s no job too small for the Ballsbridge Living Tidy Towns.

The competition involves participating areas being rated on all aspects of their local environment and prizes awarded to the best under various categories, with the overall winner being named ‘Ireland’s Tidiest Town’. Each September, the winners of the National SuperValu Tidy Towns competition and the Special Awards are announced at the annual Tidy Towns Awards ceremony.

While we didn’t receive the pleasure of being names Ireland’s Tidiest Town, Ballsbridge Living are delighted to announce that our Tidy Towns committee has already received many high-profile awards for our work. We have been named Best New Entry’ in the 2019 City Neighbourhoods Awards! Not only have we received this renowned title, we have also been  presented with an impressive 15 Special Merit Awards for our Clean-Up Day, Dwellings, and special mentions in the Shop Front Category for Roly’sBridge JewellersThe Bridge 1859TrimFrench ParadoxLife PharmacyInsomniaMary MacsPaddy CullensBase Wood Fired Pizza and the Horse Show House

All of these achievements couldn’t have been possible without the endless hours and hard work that our Tidy Towns volunteers generously give. From a fantastic bee garden to community clean up days, and even brightening up the bollards of Ballsbridge! Our volunteers have been out and about with their paintbrushes painting bollards in the bright blue and white colours of Ballsbridge Living, disposing litter, planting and gutting, just to name a few.

Also, a special thank you to Patrick Byrne, who led this local imitative from the start with his dedication and determination to ensuring that Ballsbridge is the very best it can be.

After such an amazing start, Ballsbridge Living Tidy Towns can only go onwards and upwards!
No doubt there will be many more projects on the horizon for the Ballsbridge Living Tidy Towns, so make sure to keep an eye out and maybe even get involved. If you’d like to take part in one of our next community clean up days, feel free to contact us on and follow our journey on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram!
